Climate Justice

Climate change mitigation and adaptation

Uganda is among African countries affected by current climate change impacts which include rising temperatures, pest and disease incidents, water shortages, extreme weather events, and loss of biodiversity. These impacts have caused a significant reduction in crop productivity, and its associated effects of reduced food and income security of vulnerable communities.

Therefore, the objective of this program is to support and strengthen the knowledge and capacities of EACOP affected communities to deal with climate change-related challenges through conducting research and community education on best practices of climate change mitigation, resilience and adaption.

The program also aims at creating a platform for project-affected communities to engage with government, private sector, religious and cultural institutions on the need to stop drivers of climate change with its associated challenges on both environment and community livelihood.
